I was working on some deals, and I came across a small deal. This company fit our ideal profile perfectly – we did the sales work and moved to close.

At the same time, I was working another deal – this one was much bigger. it was also a perfect deal for my company. We had a great fit.

I went out to visit the big one for a visit – the small one was in the same city. The big deal selling went ok – they needed to do some work on their side to get all the players in line.

The small deal took our visit – we had no real agenda. We walked in and our contact told us in a sad voice that we needed to lower the price – they could sign the next day. I pulled out the PC, made some suggestions, got agreement, and emailed to him from the room. My Verion MiFi was amazing.

As I walked out of the building of the small deal, I felt great! The deal was done! Somehow, I felt more excited about closing that small deal (one tenth the size of the big one).

Maybe it makes me more of a ‘small-time’ sales guy, but I still think finishing a deal is awesome. Definitely more awesome than any other part of any deal. Who’s small time?
