Feel the CRM

I saw this article in CIO Magazine about Salesforce, and especially Marc Benioff.  We sent some people to the Dreamforce event as well, and we had some good ideas come out of it.

I also went through some hiring recently and all the good qualified candidates had used Salesforce.  More and more, it is the standard CRM that salespeople use.  I guess we hire generally from smaller companies, but even a lot of big companies made the move to the Salesforce cloud.

Personally, I believe Salesforce is the “best software” I have ever used.  I get so much value out of it every day on so many levels.

So, it was funny to run into people on this search (and in some other places…..) that just do not embrace the CRM.  The more I think about it, the more I shake my head.  I just cannot see how someone could be effective without a CRM.  Here are the benefits I see:

  • Organizing your day
  • Reviewing your pipeline – helping you focus on what is real and what is not
  • Stats on how you are doing
  • Remembering what happened in an account

I don’t know all salespeople out there, but I dare anyone to have some system to manage their day without a CRM.  You might use Siebel or Sugar or Salesforce, but you gotta have one.

Is anyone out there successful without one?

Wel… I do agree on the CRM part, but not for the organizing your day part. This can be done in the CRM but could also be managed outside it.

The main focus for the CRM are the other things you pointed out.
